Since Goodwill Serving the People of Southern Los Angeles County was founded nearly 78 years ago, it has collected and resold donated clothing and household goods to fund programs and services designed to help people with barriers to employment achieve economic and personal independence. Whether it's people transitioning off welfare, displaced workers in need of new skills to re-enter the workforce or people with physical or cognitive disabilities, Goodwill helps to empower individuals with the skills needed to find meaningful employment.
The fact is, over 90 percent of our revenue comes from the sale of donated goods at our stores located throughout Long Beach and communities in Southern Los Angeles County. Goodwill stores are not only our major source of funding, but provide jobs to those with little or no work experience as they adjust to the demands of the workplace.
How Do I Donate?
Donations are critical to our ability to fulfill our mission. Every time you donate gently used clothing and household goods to Goodwill, you help change a person's life by giving him or her a chance to work, earn a paycheck and build a future. Eighty-six (86) cents of every dollar spent at a Goodwill store is channeled into job training and placement programs for people with barriers to employment.
Each of our stores is equipped to receive donations. Additionally we have ten attended donation centers where a friendly Goodwill staff member will assist you. We also have limited pick-up service. Call us at (562) 435-7741 for more information. Cars, RV's and boats are also accepted as donations.
We are happy to provide a receipt for your donations.

What Happens to Your Donations?
When you donate to Goodwill you have a direct impact upon the lives of real people living in your community. Your donations are sorted, priced and sold at one of our 15 stores. For items deemed unsalable in our stores we have found other avenues to make your donation count. For example, clothing scraps are recycled into cleaning cloths for industrial buyers, and other items are sold to salvage brokers, relieving our overburdened landfills. Approximately 99% of all donated goods are re-sold in some way.
