Project M.O.V.E.
More Opportunities for Vocational Employment

Project M.O.V.E. is the newest of Goodwill’s employment placement programs.  This paid on-the-job apprentice training program allows individuals to receive retail skills training and experience at various Goodwill retail stores.  Individuals are referred to the program from various other Goodwill programs with emphasis placed on serving individuals who are homeless, low-income, at-risk older youth, or for those who are being re-integrated into the community.

Project M.O.V.E. utilizes curriculum from both the Goodwill Industries Professional Sales Associate Training Program (developed in partnership with the National Retail Federation) and the Goodwill Industries Goodwill Works Employment Preparedness Training Program.  The 14-week training program allows for the apprentices to receive two weeks of classroom training prior to being assigned to work at a Goodwill store.  A training instructor provides on-going supervision and feedback throughout the remainder of the program.

The apprentices who successfully complete the training program are assigned a Goodwill job developer who assists them in accessing employment opportunities in the local retail business community.

The Project M.O.V.E. components are also provided to all newly hired retail staff.
